A Focus on Education
Part of Cypress Creek FACE's mission is to provide educational opportunities for the community. In order to fulfill this promise, we provide workshops, master classes, collaborative concerts, special family concerts, free children's concerts, special student ticket prices, and programs such as Klein Art Days and Strings Camp.
Klein Art Days
In 2008, Cypress Creek FACE, the Barbara Bush Library, the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts, and the Cypress Creek Community Center collaborated with Klein ISD to create an Art Day for Klein’s third grade students. These four organizations created an interdisciplinary arts experience that includes the literary, performing, and visual arts.
Cypress Creek FACE is proud to be a partner with Klein ISD to present Art Day - the first of its kind in our community. Two schools, bringing approximately 175 students, attend the field trip each day.
Since Hurricane Harvey flooded The Centrum, the Klein Art Day field trip had to be re-vamped. The Houston Grand Opera's Opera to Go! visits the elementary schools and performs. We plan to use the new George H.W. Bush Commuinty Center to bring the field trip program back to the Cypress Creek Cultural Distict. The students will see the HGO performance and eat lunch in the new Bush Community Center then tour the Pearl Fincher Museum and the Barbara Bush Library.
The fun and unique Strings Camp is a week-long day camp for violin, viola, cello and bass students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade in Klein ISD. The camp will be conducted by exemplary specialists in middle school orchestral music. The program includes sectionals, technique classes, and orchestra rehearsals. The camp culminates with a student performance on Friday evening at The Centrum. Summer Strings Camp provides students with the opportunity to maintain and improve their playing skills and musical knowledge during the summer.
