Ring in the New Year with class! Join the Houston Symphony and conductor, Brett Mitchell, and a guest violinist at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at The Centrum, 6823 Cypresswood Dr., Spring. The first half of the concert will feature music from “Great Party Scenes” such as GrofĂ©’s “Mardi Gras” from Mississippi Suite, and Strauss’ Overture to Die Fledermaus. The second half will feature “Great Symphonic Jazz” including Duke Ellington!: A Medley for Orchestra and excepts from Gershwin’s An American in Paris.
